Support Your Own’ Campaign Does Not Make Sense – Mr Logic
Artiste manager and entertainment critic, Mr Logic says a campaign for Ghanaians to support local music does not make sense.
Speaking as a panel member on Daybreak Hitz hosted by Andy Dosty, Mr Logic stated that the campaign, ‘Support your own’, to play a larger fraction of Ghanaian music already exists.
He noted that Ghanaians already support their own and urged artistes to rather put in more effort when it comes to music productions.
The artiste manager also urged them to invest more in promoting their songs outside Ghana.
According to him, the lyrical contents of the country’s songs have been limited to just Ghana and therefore cannot break barriers in other countries like Nigeria.
He added that until musicians make all these corrections and additions to their music and promote them, they will not get anywhere.
He told Andy Dosty“…Support your own does not make sense. Until we begin to realize the need to respect technical personnel we will not get anywhere. It’s not about the ratio. It does not make sense because we have been supporting our own all this while.”
“The problem is with the production of our music and how we promote it…,” he added.
Recently Zylofon music artistes were stunned to see patrons at their maiden edition of the Zylofon Naija Invasion in Nigeria totally ignore them on stage.
This sparked a lot of controversies as well as instigated the conscious effort by some industry players to curb the influx of Nigerian songs on the shores of Ghana.
The likes of George Briton and DJ Adviser are just a few individuals routing for this campaign.
