Rex Omar Elected GHAMRO Board Chairman

The board members of the Ghana Music Right Organisation (GHAMRO) have elected Rex Owusu Marfo, known in the music scene as Rex Omar, as the board chairman.
Rex won a 7-6 voting by the newly-elected board members of the GHAMRO, beating Nana Tuffour, who, once again, failed to oversee another grouping within the industry, after he lost the MUSIGA presidency to Bice Osei Kuffour some years ago.

Ahmed Banda, popularly known as Bandex, retained his position as 1 vice chairman, while the former president of MUSIGA, Diana Hopeson, assumes the role of the 2 vice chair.

Adhering to the directives enshrined in the new constitution, the chairman and his deputies were voted by the board members and not the entire membership of the organisation.

Currently, the 13-member GHAMRO board is undergoing an orientation workshop organised in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and the International Federation of Phonographic Industries (IFPI) to adequately equip the elected board members for the duties set before them.
The orientation workshop, under the theme 'Collective Management for Policy Makers', is led by Rob Hooijer, a representative of the (IFPI) and other resource persons.
