I Was Severely Criticized For Performing At S-Concert – Gifty Osei
Gospel Musician Gifty ‘Empress’ Osei after her mind-blowing performance at the recent S Concert held at the Accra Sports Stadium has come under heavy criticism by a section of the gospel fraternity.
Osei told Kojo Preko Dankwa on K-Entertainment on Kasapa 102.5FM, that she was amazed when she received numerous text messages from known and unknown personalities in the gospel industry claiming she has backslided for mounting EIB Network’s S-Concert stage.
Giving reason for her performance at the event, Empress One stated that as gospel artistes they need to evangelize to every individual or group regardless of the venue they find themselves, so she sees nothing wrong if she preaches through her gospel music to the same people said to be ‘worldly people’.
Two female gospel artistes, Gifty Osei and Joyce Blessing made history as the First Gospel Musicians to ever perform on one of the biggest events in Ghana’s music calendar dubbed “S Concert”.
Joyce Blessing was reported to have also received her fair share of the public backlash after her performance at the S Concert.
“Evangelism should be done outside, I never had any problem during the S Concert performance but after the show, I had a text message from a gospel artiste telling me that I’ve backslided because I mounted that stage. I asked myself that if those I performed to as claimed by my colleague not to be Christians then I can tell my colleagues that they have failed God.
If you classified those who attended the S Concert as worldly people, then as a gospel artiste you have done zero work for God. There are whole lots I can tell you about how my colleagues behave, it’s so pathetic when I receive such criticisms from them.
“At times I receive text messages from colleague artiste in the gospel industry bashing me for my performance at an event. Most of them are hypocrites, they only pretend to like you when they meet you.” Gifty Osei told Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa FM.
S Concert is an event which is organised by EIB group of companies, Starr Fm to be precised. This event has been running for the past four consecutive years and it’s on record that no gospel musician has ever been billed on that stage to perform with the countries biggest secular musicians.
